About the Skin

The Skin

The skin is the largest organ and acts as the initial indicator of how you are reacting to the state of environmental surroundings.  It is flexible and elastic while being primarily responsible for regulating heat and insensible fluid loss.  The skin is also the body’s first defence in protecting against trauma and exposure to toxins and bacteria.

Layers of the Skin

There are three layers to the skin: the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous layer.
